A major player in the Nigerian publishing industry currently is looking to engage the services of an experienced Accountant.The successful candidate's main objectives will be to to manage the day-to-day operations of the Finance, IT and warehouse functions in district offices and the area offices under the district, ensuring that effective systems are in place to enable financial control, debt reduction, effective stock and cost management and the production of accurate and timely financial information to all users (sales staff, head office finance team and management).Key Roles and Responsibilities:To assist in the development of appropriate financial systems and strategies to ensure the continued financial viability of all the area offices within the district.
To implement, review, improve appropriate financial systems.
To manage working capital – reduction in debts, effective management of stock and creditors.
To ensure that the policy and procedures manual relating to all financial transactions, asset (equipment, vehicles, property, stock etc) management are implemented
To ensure that all financial transactions are recorded and carried out in accordance with agreed procedures and recognized accounting standards.
To ensure that all software and hardware used in the district and area offices are fully deployed and functioning effectively
To be responsible for the co-ordination and preparation of various year-end schedules for the annual accounts
To prepare timely monthly management accounts as required by the Head office
To work very closely with the Sales staff and customers in securing significant reduction in debts,
To vet and append all requests for credit facilities, before they are sent to the Head office for approval.
To co-ordinate the preparation of the district’s annual budget in conjunction with the District Manager and to provide financial forecasts when required from the Head office. To deputize for the District Manager in his/her absence.
To prepare work plans in consultation with staff in the various area offices which reflect the work to be undertaken by the finance, Warehouse and IT staff, monitor and report on the achievement of that work on a quarterly basis (or as requested) to the Head of Finance.
Provide financial advice and information to all budget holders to assist them in the effective management of their services.
Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the District Manager and Head office management.
The ideal candidate must have:BSc in Accounting, Finance or other related courses
Minimum of Five (5)years experience in similar position
Membership of relevant professional association is required
Book keeping
Financial Reporting
Numeric Skills
Speed
PC / Personal Productivity tools-Excel, Word, Power Point
Knowledge of relevant accounting software
