ToughStuff is a social enterprise that sells very inexpensive solar products designed for low-income people in developing countries. We pursue ambitious sales targets to ensure profitability, while creating important social, environmental and poverty-reduction benefitsInternationally, ToughStuff is pursuing an international Programme of Activities under the United Nations clean Development Mechanism to certify the carbon emission reductions. This will be developed through a carbon team working throughout geographies ToughStuff is present, predominantly in Africa but also Indian subcontinent.We are seeking ambitious people to help with the CDM process for ToughStuff. This role will encompass local and regional coordination of the Carbon Group within the countries of operation in Africa. Job Title: Carbon Credit Relationship ManagerReporting To: Group Carbon ManagerLocal coordination and relationship management as well as helping country managersWorking with both Country Managers and Regional Managers to ensure Carbon Group tasks are metMaintaining relationships with local country DNA’s and other third partiesEnsuring high quality of communication between geographically disperse employees in ToughStuff on Carbon issuesHelping with the relationships with DOEs and other expertsWorking with third parties to prepare Validation and Verification of projectsEnsuring carbon documentation is written at a high quality and deadlines are metHelp with correspondence with UN Executive Board and DOEsDegree in Engineering, renewable energy, environmental sciences or relevant degrees. Master’s degree will be an added advantageA minimum of 3-5 years carbon experience, including CDM or VER certificationYou must be a proactive, tenacious, ambitious business professional with a track record for achieving ambitious goalNaturally inquisitive and creative, desire to continuously improve current business practices/processes; able to think and act innovativelyResourceful: able to achieve results in an environment that is challenging and sometimes unpredictableInvolvement in the full project cycle of at least 10 carbon projects (CDM or voluntary)Proven experience in the CDM/VER project cycle and experience authoring UNFCCC documentsExperience with POA and liaising with DOEs will be an added advantageGood interpersonal communicator and problem solving abilityHighly developed entrepreneurial spirit and thorough understanding of the carbon marketsResponsible and resourceful individual who operates effectively without constant supervisionTenacious work ethic and a sense of urgency in solving problemsExcellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essentialExperience in Africa and relationships with African DNAsWillingness to frequently travel throughout West AfricaMotivated by the triple-bottom line nature of ToughStuffIf you meet the foregoing requirements, send a detailed resume.
