Randstad was founded in 1960 by Frits Goldschmeding. In 1964, the company changed its name to Randstad Uitzendbureau, the new name came from the area in
which the company by now operated: the conurbation of Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam, The Hague and Leiden, which the Dutch describe as ‘the Randsta.
