Programme Summary

This is a proposed, five-year, internationally funded human resources for health project in northern Nigeria. The programme will serve to increase female participation in the health workforce, resulting in more women health workers, higher retention of female health workers, and increased health worker coverage in low-coverage areas, across five states on northern Nigeria: Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Yobe, and Zamfara. Position located in Abuja or Kano.

Position Summary

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Advisor will be responsible for all monitoring and evaluation activities of the project. S/he will ensure the utilization of sound monitoring and evaluation indicators and tools for consistency in measurement. Experience in health systems analysis and research is required, and economics, organizational and institutional development, and policy expertise is welcome.

Key Responsibilities

? Assist in the design of the project M&E plans; ? Responsible for the development of relevant M&E tools as well as technical training; ? Coordinate regular monitoring visits and reporting mechanisms; ? Monitor data collection, collation, storage, analysis and reporting. ? Assess project progress, identify problems, and bring issues to the attention of relevant parties; ? Monitor data entry processes and overall maintenance of database; ? Review regular program reports prepared by program staff for submission to DFID; ? Ensure program staff and senior management are utilizing collected data in project implementation; ? Advise project management through ongoing integration of M&E data into program activities.

Qualifications

? Advanced degree in public health or a relevant field ? Research and M&E expertise and track record ? At least ten years’ experience in an M&E role and significant experience of health initiatives ? In-depth knowledge of Nigeria’s healthcare worker education system ? Willingness to travel within Northern Nigeria ? Excellent written and spoken English
