ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) is looking for an academic professional within tax justice and campaign. ActionAid Nigeria has prioritised its work on tax justice works, and has already concluded a study on tax and inequality within Nigeria. In collaboration with other civil society partners who have a strong interest in tax justice and inequality, AAN has formed a Nigeria Tax Justice and Governance Network in 2012. The Tax Justice Advisor is going to play a key role in supporting AAN and the Network members to enhance their knowledge on tax policies and practice, as well as strengthen their advocacy efforts at national and regional levels within this area. ActionAid started its intervention in Nigeria in 1999, while the programmatic operations commenced in January 2000. AA Nigeria’s works are currently spread across 26 States in Nigeria. AAN’s prioritised programming areas are Education; Food and Agriculture; Human Security in Conflict and Emergencies; Health; Just and Democratic Governance and Women Rights. Promoting the right to just and democratic governance and Women's Rights are cross-cutting themes which apply across the whole programme, but also have stand-alone initiatives. The Tax Justice Advisor is placed through the People4Change program; which is a people-to-people support programme providing development support to ActionAid and her partner organisations. People4Change promotes cross national solidarity and innovative approaches for capacity development initiatives. Therefore, this placement is only eligible for applicants, who are not Nigerian national nor have permanent residency in Nigeria. Job tasks include: • Enhancing knowledge of tax policies and practices for AAN staff and Network partners • Develop campaign plans, strategies and tactics with partners and coalitions, including mobilisation for both offline and digital advocacy and campaigns on Tax Justice • Support Nigeria Tax Justice and Governance Network and member organisations with their advocacy at national and regional levels to help make progress on an ECOWAS agreement on Tax avoidance and tax incentives

Required qualifications: • Master’s Degree with 6 – 8 years of post-graduate work experience. • At least 4 years relevant experience working with Tax Justice and Inequality. • Experience in using campaign planning methodologies and communication to produce a viable campaign plan and strategy is essential. • In-depth knowledge of Tax issues and behaviours of Multi-National Corporations on Tax • Strong capacity in research and analysis • Skills in capacity building, especially in facilitating training, providing mentoring or accompaniment support
