The Community Reintegration Project Manager (CRPM) is responsible for the overall coordination and management of a project to facilitate peaceful reintegration of persons formerly associated with armed groups and reduce sources of communal tension and violence. The CRPM will work with Pact’s existing country office in Nigeria, but will be solely responsible for: meeting the project’s objectives; managing a Community Reintegration Team; maintaining good working relationships with relevant host government officials and local partners; and ensure high-quality service delivery to target groups and organizations. This position is contingent on funding.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure high-quality programming through technical guidance and support that is grounded in the program’s strategic objectives and adheres to expected technical quality and reporting requirements;
• Organize and supervise reintegration of persons formerly associated with armed groups in activities such as vocational training, income generation, and conflict resolution skills;
• Mentor and train staff in reintegration and related fields;
• Develop work plans, and M&E and reporting;
• Provide technical leadership to other projects in the peace building sector, including design for future projects and programs according to best practice;
• Attend relevant coordination meetings, seek opportunities for collaboration with other NGOs, the private sector and government;
• Ensure a safe and secure work environment at all times.
Qualifications:
• Excellent cross-cultural understanding and sensitivity;
• Proven analytical problem solving abilities and management skills;
• Good negotiation and mediation skills;
• Knowledge of SPHERE standards;
• Being able and willing to travel in Nigeria under basic conditions;
• Extensive training and/or experience in DDR, income generation and/or community-driven development;
• Excellent grasp of conflict triggers in Nigeria;
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and database skills;
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Master’s degree in conflict resolution or related field;
• 5-10 years (of which 3 in a leadership position) progressive experience in activities related to conflict resolution, DDR and/or peace building in a conflict-affected environment;
• Experience working in Nigeria or similar environment;
• Security sector experience a plus;
• Extensive knowledge of the current political, social and economic landscape in Nigeria.
