MSH is seeking candidates for an upcoming DFID-funded integrated health program in Nigeria. The project will work to increase the number of female health workers in training, and serving health facilities and rural communities in five Northern Nigerian states (Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Yobe and Zamfara).

The Service Provider will set up and manage the Women for Women Health Initiative (W4H) project to deliver the specified outputs through providing technical and advisory input, being responsible for day-to-day management and overseeing the implementation of the project in the five Northern Nigerian states. This position is contingent upon MSH winning the project award.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working with the Project Director, the Education Advisor will plan and direct training programs to support health and hygiene behavior change in employees throughout the project. In particular, support the development of skills for implementing Family Health Action Groups for women. Liaise regularly with the Director to plan and direct additional health and hygiene behavior change activities to support the infrastructure subprojects in other provinces.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Under the supervision of the Director, adapt training curriculum from courses for implementing Family Health Action Groups for women, to the needs of the selected provinces.

2.Supervise the training of community mobilization master trainers and other NGO staff in the implementation of these programs.

3.Oversee the implementation of a program for post-training follow-up activities in the provinces to support and evaluate the work of the NGO staff after their training. Provide ongoing support and mentoring.

4.Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the training courses and ensure the necessary adjustments to the curriculum and training methods to maximize the quality of the training.

5.Work with the NGO program managers and the DFID Project provincial coordinators in the planning, organization and administration of courses and follow-up activities.

6.Liaise with the project Director to plan and direct additional health and hygiene behavior change activities to support the infrastructure subprojects in other provinces.

7.Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•Master’s degree in public health, social sciences, or other relevant field.

•Extensive experience of training community health workers and health professionals.

•Demonstrated ability in competency-based adult education and clinical training •Experience of managing training programs for health workers essential.

•Experience in designing or adapting training curricula desirable •Experience working with Nigerian NGOs and public sector institutions, particularly at primary care and community levels.

•Advocacy with state governments, local communities, and religious leaders.

•Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

•Proficiency with software applications including MS Office Suite application and statistical packages •Written and spoken fluency in English and Native Languages of afore mentioned regions.

•Willingness to travel within Nigeria required.
