The employment contract duration will be one year with the possibility to renew.The European Commission's Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection is the department responsible for financing humanitarian and civil protection assistance. ECHO finances a range of partners, which include NGO's UN agencies and the Red Cross Movement, to provide assistance to people affected by both natural and man-made disasters.1.            Duties & ResponsibilitiesInitially based in Abuja with possible relocation to Kano or any other state, the Programme Assistant (PA) will assist ECHO's Technical Assistants in charge of programmes in Nigeria to provide quality technical advice and support to ECHO's funded projects in the country.The PA will be required to participate in the contextual analysis aimed at determining the strategy for humanitarian interventions in Nigeria and eventually neighboring countries, as well as for IDP's/refugees, examining partners grant proposals and reports and closely monitoring the implementation of ECHO funded actions.The  PA shall be required to take a pro-active role in relevant coordination meetings with implementing partners and other international and local organizations ensuring ECHO is appropriately represented the PA may also be required to travel in the region.2.            Required Qualifications·         A relevant university degree and minimum of five years work experience in the humanitarian sector, if university degree is not provided, ten years working experience in humanitarian sector must have been accomplished·         Good  knowledge of international NGOs and UN aid agencies working in the regions an advantages·         Work experience outside Nigeria in an international setting is an advantage·         Good understanding of humanitarian issues in the region and/or experience with IDPs/refuge operations, will be considered as an added advantage·         Thorough knowledge of Logical Framework Approach and Project Cycle Management ·         A detailed list of competences and Terms of reference are available at http://eeas.europa.eu/delegtions/nigeria/about_us/vacancies/index_en.htm3.            Required Skills.·         Fluent written and spoken- English is required. Graduate Account Assistant Jobs: RusselSmith Group Nigeria

Job Reference Code: RS-FD-01Summary of Functions:Assisting the Accounts Unit including receiving and matching invoices, account coding, preparation of disbursements and accounts payable related record keeping. • Receives and processes vendor invoices and internal check requests; maintains open files for purchase orders, packing/receiving slips and matches to invoices. Verifies invoices for quantity, unit pricing, extensions and applicable discounts. Obtains approval from appropriate personnel for payment for miscellaneous invoices. • Codes invoices with accounting account numbers according to distribution in the general ledger; determines dates for invoices to be paid; keys invoices into computerized accounts payable system. Maintains alphabetical open invoice file for unpaid invoices. • On a weekly basis, reviews invoices scheduled for payment and a special check request with Chief Accountant, prints approved checks, prepares and routes for signature according to check signing authority. • Attaches duplicate copy of checks to original invoices, stamps invoices “Paid” and files in permanent records. • Prints, verifies and maintains accounts payable voucher reports, open/aging reports, disbursement reports, and journals. • Receives and answers phone calls from vendors or other departments in regard to payment status of invoices. • Performs other accounting duties as requested. Experience Required: 0-2 yearsSkills/Qualifications Required:• A university degree in accounting preferred • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people is essential • Familiarity with accounting and spreadsheet applications is required • Strong quantitative skills such as statistics and data analysis skills • Good reasoning skills; multi-tasking skills and organizational skills • Strong analytical and data analysis skills • Ability to maintain flexible attitude and approach towards assignments and successfully operate under guidelines • Must be proficient in MS Office software – Word, Excel • Knowledge of relevant accounting and financial tools<a href="http://russelsmithgroup.com/job-opportunities/cv-submission">Apply for this job</A>
