Propcom Mai-karfi is a six year Department for International Development (DFID) funded programme which has as its aim sustained increases in incomes of poor women and men engaged in selected rural markets in Northern Nigeria. The purpose of the project is ‘Increased employment and improved productivity in selected agricultural market systems in Northern Nigeria’.

GRM International is currently hiring a Policy specialist to lead the analysis of key policy constraints related to functioning agricultural markets and other income-earning opportunities for rural population. You will work with public and private sector partners to design, manage, supervise, and monitor market-led policy interventions and identify opportunities and channels to influence policy.                                                           

Other responsibilities include:

Working with public and private sector partners to design, manage, supervise, and monitor market-led policy interventions; Working  with business and advocacy organizations as appropriate; Identifying opportunities and channels to influence policy and for supporting partners to more effectively contribute to policy change; Facilitating agriculture policy dialogues/summits for high-profile public-private stakeholders.

You will demonstrate:

An advanced degree (masters or doctoral) in the field of social sciences, agricultural sciences, food security or a related field of study or an equivalent combination of studies and experience; Experience in agricultural/food security policy research, analysis and dialogue, with governmental and/or non-governmental institutions, preferably in a developing country; Track record in analysing policy constraints in Nigeria (particularly in the agricultural and small business sectors); Ability to engage with senior policy-makers and other stakeholders involved in policy-making process at both State and Federal levels; High quality analytical and influencing skills; Fluency in written and spoken English and Hausa; Nigerian Nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.How to apply:
