Bid Manager

Responsible for supporting the sales team in building bid processes, bid strategies and driving through to completionProvide thought leadership and previous experiences to the team in order to influence Bid strategies and approach to customersProvide leadership to the virtual bid team by ensuring the team understand the strategy and their role in delivering the strategyWork closely with the sales and account management team to understand customer requirements in order to ensure  a solution that meets their requirements with appropriate value propositionResponsible for ensuring appropriate sign off by stakeholders before bid submission, ensuring  that financial and commercial governance has been followedProvide the required balance between customer and sales objectives, with a need to make returns and also manage risk to the businessShare best practice with the virtual bid team and the commercial team in order to continually improve the defined bid processDemonstrate strong commercial skills in advising sales and assessing profitability of dealsCoordinate and complete responses to RFT, RFPs etc. in terms of content and pricingMake a go/  no-go decisions on new commercial initiativesPreparing performance reports and giving required updates in a timely fashion

To strategically manage bid and RTF responses for VBN, ensuring that all activities are completed and customer deliverables made on timeBuilding responses, ensuring effective understanding of customer requirements, customer focus and a clear presentation of VBN value proposition using best practice principlesCreating pricing for proposals and bespoke tenders, commercial analysis of proposalsEnsuring all risks are clearly stated and understood, mitigated and accepted by all stakeholdersThe job holder must have a Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Commercial or any Business related discipline. A Second Class Upper will be an added advantage. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Telecommunications or ICT environment  from which 3 years’ experience in Bid management and pricing development and must have at least 2-3 years’ experience in a managerial capacity.  Prior experience in international environments and workgroups is important.

Formulate the Commercial Operations Strategy for VBN.Oversee that the clients’ contracts are being correctly managed and monitored.Lead and Manage the VBN Bid team.Ensure customer pricing is competitive and accurate.Ensure pricing models are kept up-to-date and are in accordance with business best practice.Provide holistic commercial evaluation of deals.Provide an executive summary of Bid commercials for Management signoff.Monitor and track performance against the set targets for the Commercial Operations team.Manage the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.Identify, Negotiate and coordinate team resources across various groups within the organization whose inputs are required to make product(s) amendments, support growth and meet customer demands.Analyse potential partner relationships for the product.Put in place business performance metrics that allows the success of the product to be monitored and measured.Keep tab of competitive threats, discover opportunities, and work on envisaged weaknesses to constantly position the company to achieve set vision.Oversee the development and implementation of the brand strategy.Develop and implement a Marketing Strategy which reflects priorities outlined in the company’s Strategic Plan – including campaigns, communications, events and PR.Work closely with the sales team; enabling them to meet their commercial objectives by providing them with appropriate tools, materials and presentations.Participate in pre-sales solution formulation through system deployment; including bid preparation and customer interface resulting in solutions architecture proposals.Oversee the preparation of the technical solutions architectural and implementation design documents.Develop and articulate solutions based on a customer's strategic business or technical requirements ascertained from working with multiple business units across the customer's organization.The job holder will be responsible for the strategic leadership, direction and development of new commercial opportunities involving product management and development, marketing, pricing, special bids and pre-sales activities in Nigeria. The job holder must have a Bachelor Degree or Commercial discipline from a reputable university with a minimum of of 10 years Commercial Management experience; inclusive of management in the ICT Industry (essential), with pricing principals, in a Telco, ISP, or related ICT services industry.Bid/Tender exposure preferred.5 years Leadership/Management/Supervisory experience essential.

Determine and analyse market requirements for specific propositions.Develop industry/segment specific proposition strategy.Own and manage key propositions within verticals and horizontals and ensure maximum return is achieved.Present new concepts, ideas and initiatives to the commercial team in order to reach targets.Develop the proposition component within a Go to market plan (GTM) for each product offering.Assist and support the portfolio managers in the development and management of products as per agreed strategy.Recommend changes to existing products to meet market requirements.Be an expert for your propositions by actively managing the proposition lifecycle with a view to maximising returns.Predict present market trends and gather reliable and accurate market intelligence.Recommend pricing propositions for verticals/horizontals by advising on the necessity for tenders and RFP.Advise on the necessity of price review within portfolios, by liaising with sales and portfolio managers to determine appropriate selling prices per product.Take ownership of key KPIs with a view to acquiring and retaining appropriate customer baseReport on proposition performance.Work with stakeholders within the organisation to ensure the success of overall strategic business planDevelop the portfolio specific strategy.Manage the development of portfolio specific proposition.Develop vertical specific proposition within portfolios.Report on proposition performance against targets with action plan.Analyse market requirements for portfolio specific propositions.Participate in the development of portfolio specific products as per agreed strategy.Present new concept/initiatives within portfolio to reach targets and present results of analyses performed.Recommend changes to existing products to meet market requirements.Present market trends within portfolio and competitor market trend.Determine / Develop  pricing & propositions  for portfolio tenders & RFP’sPerform other job related duties as required.This role requires an extensive knowledge of the market, competitive landscape, deep customer insight and a thorough understanding of the industry verticals and horizontals to assure an excellent design, delivery and management of propositions for all product offerings.To develop specific vertical and horizontal propositions which will assist the portfolio managers in achieving their target objectives, also ensuring that overall companywide targets are met.The job holder must have a Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Commercial or any Business related discipline.
