Therefore, all staff members have the chance to do significant, meaningful work as the team works to shape the impact potential of the fund and the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization. </P><P>A fellow will help to shape and actively participate in the following activities: </P><P>Lead Generation: Critical to the success of the fund is the development of a strong pipeline of potential investments. In this activity, the fellow seeks out and participates in forming partnerships with other service organizations and/or individuals with access to qualified leads, as well as coming up with other creative ways to find investment opportunities. </P><P>Due Diligence: Once a lead is identified, it is necessary to understand whether it is an appropriate fit forus and worthy of investment. </P><P>Consulting Services: </P><P>Our mission is to come alongside entrepreneurs to help them grow their businesses. At each stage of our engagement with entrepreneurs, we seek to provide consulting on technical and business strategy. These consulting services continue, if not increase, once an investment is made. </P><P>Administration: A fellow will help to create and shape quality, efficient systems for both administration and finance. </P><P>Operations: </P><P>As a start-up, it is expected that all people, including fellows, will help with a variety of operations, legal, marketing, accounting, and administrative activities to assist in the development of the organization. </P><P>Qualifications </P><P>We are seeking exceptional professionals with 2 to 5+ years of work experience, and a demonstrated commitment for international development. </P><P>Strong work experience: Examples include a demanding professional work experience or successful entrepreneurial experience. Candidates from a variety of backgrounds are welcome to apply. Some specific backgrounds of interest are: management consulting, finance, accounting, and entrepreneurship. </P><P>Leadership and initiative: able to share experiences at work and outside of professional work </P><P>Graduation from undergraduate studies including demonstration of solid performance (include GPA and test scores on your resume) </P><P>Eagerness to be a part of a groundbreaking start-up. Start-ups are unique in their ability to provide a seemingly endless amount of work. Candidates should be eager to wear many hats and put in significant hours to help build the organization and its impact. Also, candidates should be very self-motivated, able to manage their own agenda to accomplish their varying responsibilities. </P><P>A willingness to commit to living in East Africa for the entirety of the 12 month fellowship. This role has the potential to develop into a long-term, career-track role. Global Fellow - Research, Monitoring & Evaluation - Nigeria

Heartland Alliance is the largest human rights organization also providing care and outreach in the United States. As its mission states, “Heartland Alliance advances the human rights and responds to the human needs of endangered populations – particularly the poor, the isolated and the displaced – through the provision of comprehensive and respectful services and the promotion of permanent solutions leading to a more just global society.” Heartland Alliance is one of the largest implementers of HIV/AIDS programs targeting MSM and other most-at-risk populations, with large PEPFAR-funded HIV projects in Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire and the Dominican Republic. In addition, Heartland Alliance is a global leader in LGBT rights and protections, working with grassroots LGBT organizations in over 30 countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.</P><P>Overview: Heartland Alliance is currently implementing the Integrated MSM HIV/AIDS Prevention Program (IMHIPP) in partnership with grassroots organizations. Through these partnerships, Heartland Alliance is developing and implementing short, medium, and long-term strategies to improve health, rights and protections for MSM and LGBT individuals. Heartland Alliance is working to formalize and strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of five local MSM organizations in Nigeria to: train and support MSM to be HIV prevention peer educators; mobilize and reach MSM with critical HIV prevention outreach; provide community-based palliative care services to MSM living with HIV; and work with key government and non-governmental stakeholders to integrate comprehensive MSM-targeted HIV programming into Nigeria’s national HIV/AIDS response.</P><P>Key Responsibilities: • Collaborate with Heartland Alliance/Nigeria’s Deputy Country Director, Strategic Information Officer (SIO), and other senior staff to ensure rigorous monitoring and evaluation of the program, gauge progress against targets, and to assess outcomes and impact of programs; • Contribute to research plans, needs assessments and situation analyses; • Review and strengthen M&E tools and approaches; • Assist with data collection, and manage/organize data collected; • Evaluate data with staff to identify trends, problems and opportunities; • Document findings and capture key lessons learned to share internally and externally; • Assist with monthly program updates quarterly programmatic reports, and other research/programmatic reports and fact sheets; • Update a training curriculum on M&E and train local Heartland Alliance and LNGO partner staff; • Provide hands-on capacity building opportunities for local partners; • Liaise with Heartland Alliance HQ to communicate finding and to ensure high quality, evidence-based approaches; • Contribute to website, social media and other communications strategies; • Initiate other projects/activities to utilize the Fellow’s skills and interests.</P><P>Qualifications: • Degree in public health, public policy, international development, gender studies or other relevant field (required), or master’s degree (strongly preferred); • Knowledge of and interest in HIV/AIDS prevention for most-at-risk populations (MARPs), gender and sexuality, and global LGBT rights (required); • Knowledge of and interest in grassroots community mobilization, capacity building and training (required); • Significant experience in/knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies; • Significant knowledge in/experience using statistical and data management software; • International experience (required); • Excellent communication skills in English (required); • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (required); • Familiarity with US Government and President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) programs, and monitoring and evaluation systems (preferred).</P><P>Skills: • Able to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision; • High attention to detail and commitment to producing work of the highest quality, often on short notice; • Superb writing and editing skills; • Able to live/work in resource-limited environments; • Strong problem-solving skills; • Highly reliable and motivated; • Good sense of humor.</P><P>Please visit <a href="http://www.heartlandalliance.org/whoweare/careers/">http://www.heartlandalliance.org/whoweare/careers/</A> and view our Job Board to apply for this opportunity.</P>
