The programme will serve to increase female participation in the health workforce, resulting in more women health workers, higher retention of women health workers, and increased health worker coverage in low-coverage areas, across five states on northern Nigeria: Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Yobe, and Zamfara.</P><P>Position Summary</P><P>The Research Advisor will be responsible for leading a study assessing whether a new cadre of community-based female health workers is needed in Nigeria. Experience in health systems research is required. Economic and policy expertise is welcome. The position located in Abuja and reports to the Team Leader.</P><P>Key Responsibilities</P><P>? Lead programme outputs related to the new cadre research study ? Manage relationships with partner organizations supporting programme research and analysis ? Develop evaluation study protocol and ensure that study is conducted according to protocol ? Contribute to data analysis and work with the Advocacy Advisor to develop materials based on study findings ? Prepare or support necessary technical and programme-related reports, including presentations and manuscripts for scientific publication</P><P>Qualifications</P><P>? Advanced degree in public health or a related field ? At least ten years’ experience in research, including on health and/or human resources for health ? Expertise in quantitative and qualitative analyses, including cost effectiveness analysis ? In-depth knowledge of Nigeria’s healthcare system ? Willingness to travel within Northern Nigeria ? S/he will ensure the utilization of sound monitoring and evaluation indicators and tools for consistency in measurement. Experience in health systems analysis and research is required, and economics, organizational and institutional development, and policy expertise is welcome.</P><P>Key Responsibilities</P><P>? Assist in the design of the project M&E plans; ? Responsible for the development of relevant M&E tools as well as technical training; ? Coordinate regular monitoring visits and reporting mechanisms; ? Monitor data collection, collation, storage, analysis and reporting. ? Assess project progress, identify problems, and bring issues to the attention of relevant parties; ? Monitor data entry processes and overall maintenance of database; ? Review regular program reports prepared by program staff for submission to DFID; ? Ensure program staff and senior management are utilizing collected data in project implementation; ? Advise project management through ongoing integration of M&E data into program activities.</P><P>Qualifications</P><P>? Advanced degree in public health or a relevant field ? Research and M&E expertise and track record ? At least ten years’ experience in an M&E role and significant experience of health initiatives ? In-depth knowledge of Nigeria’s healthcare worker education system ? Willingness to travel within Northern Nigeria ? Programme Officer (States), Senior State Programme Officer at Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Initiative

<P><STRONG>Vacancies: Programme Officer, States, Senior State Programme Officer</STRONG></P><P>The Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) initiative is a 5-year aid programme which operates alongside the PRRINN programme that focuses on strengthening routine immunization in four Northern Nigerian States. The MNCH programme aims to address the unacceptable high rates maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality in selected Northern Nigerian States. The programme is funded by the Norwegian government in partnership with the UK Department for International Development (DFID). It is operated by a consortium of three organizations, namely: Health Partners International UK, Save the Children, UK and GRID Consulting Nigeria.</P><P>The joint programme collaborates with stakeholders in the health sector as well as Civil societies to provide quantifiable improvements to the PHC systems in Northern Nigeria. PRRINN/MNCH is managed by a team of internationally recruited professionals. Its programme activities are carried out in Jigawa, Katsina, Yobe and Zamfara with coordination from the programme head office in Kano. The programme has been in operation, but seeks to recruit qualified professionals to fill two vacant positions:</P><P><STRONG>Position: Programme Officer, States</STRONG></P><P>This position will be based in one of these programme operating states; Katsina, Yobe or Zamfara. The successful candidate will report directly to the State Team Manager (STM), S/he will provide technical support in either the demand or supply sides of programme activities at the state levels. Some of which include; planning, coordination, mobilization and advocacy at the state and Local Government levels. The Programme Officer will work in close collaboration with other stakeholders in the ministries, health professionals, civil societies and other funding partners to jointly facilitate the planning and implementation of all technical activities aimed at reforming maternal, neonatal and child health and routine immunization services in the state.</P><P><STRONG>Qualification: </STRONG></P>Candidate(s) must hold a degree in any one of Public Health, Epidemiology, Social Development, Health Sciences or other related disciplines with a minimum of five (5) years working experience.S/he must have a good understanding of operations of health care delivery services; particularly with PHCs in Northern Nigeria.S/he must be an excellent communicator with excellent hands-on knowledge and use of computer Microsoft packages, strong inter-personal and organizational skills. Previous experience in a similar role and environment will be an added advantage.Ability to communicate fluently in Hausa is essential.<P><STRONG>Position: Senior State Programme Officer</STRONG></P><P>The Senior State Programme Officer will be based in one of these programme operating states: Katsina, Yobe or Zamfara. The successful candidate will provide support to the Team Manager at the state level. S/he will deputize for the STM on programme management related issues; to facilitate, plan and implement programme activities aimed at reforming maternal, child and newborn health as well as routine immunization. S/he will also provide required support to LGAs, stakeholders, relevant ministries and CSOs, to strengthen and manage health services.</P><P><STRONG>Qualification: </STRONG></P>Candidate(s) must hold a post-graduate qualification in any one of Public health. Health management, Health economics, social development or other relevant disciplines, with a minimum of 8 years professional work experience.S/he must have a good understanding of health delivery systems especially in Northern Nigeria. Additional skills required for this position include; advocacy skills, excellent facilitator with good hands- on computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate fluently in Hausa is essential.<P><STRONG>Terms of Employment:</STRONG></P><P>The appointment will be for a contract term of up to 15 months, with an initial 6 months probationary period.
