Programme Summary
This is a proposed, five-year, internationally funded human resources for health project in northern Nigeria. The programme will serve to increase female participation in the health workforce, resulting in more women health workers, higher retention of women health workers, and increased health worker coverage in low-coverage areas, across five states on northern Nigeria: Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Yobe, and Zamfara.
Position Summary
The Research Advisor will be responsible for leading a study assessing whether a new cadre of community-based female health workers is needed in Nigeria. Experience in health systems research is required. Economic and policy expertise is welcome. The position located in Abuja and reports to the Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
? Lead programme outputs related to the new cadre research study ? Manage relationships with partner organizations supporting programme research and analysis ? Develop evaluation study protocol and ensure that study is conducted according to protocol ? Contribute to data analysis and work with the Advocacy Advisor to develop materials based on study findings ? Prepare or support necessary technical and programme-related reports, including presentations and manuscripts for scientific publication
Qualifications
? Advanced degree in public health or a related field ? At least ten years’ experience in research, including on health and/or human resources for health ? Expertise in quantitative and qualitative analyses, including cost effectiveness analysis ? In-depth knowledge of Nigeria’s healthcare system ? Willingness to travel within Northern Nigeria ? Excellent written and spoken English
