Mate Liftboat (200 ton - Class 200 vessel)

Mate Liftboat (200 ton - Class 200 vessel) Our client, an internationally renowned drilling contractor is now seeking a qualified and experienced Mate for their Liftboat division. West African experience is preferred. The Role • Responsible for the safe and efficient running of the vessel he/she has been appointed to command. • Mates are Managers on the vessel and the company relies upon the Mate to set a high standard of personal and professional conduct and to set an example to the crew under his/her command. • The Mate will give attention to the safety of the ship and crew, and will ensure that safe working practices are employed. Duties & Responsibilities • Assists in command of the vessel to transport passengers, freight, equipment, and other cargo across oceans, bays, lakes, and in coastal waters • Sets course of ships using navigational aids, such as charts, area plotting sheets, compass, and sextant, and orders crew worker at helm to steer ship • Determines geographical position of the ship, using loran or azimuths of celestial bodies • Inspects ship to ensure that crew and passengers observe regulations pertaining to safety and efficient operation of ship and maintains ship log • Inspect, maintain, and test safety and lifesaving equipment, fire fighting equipment and systems, navigational lights, ship’s whistle, foghorn, and search and signal lights • Responsible for the cleaning, painting, and general housekeeping to provide sanitary conditions on the vessel • Inspect and test the internal communications system and the general alarm system • Assist the Captain in preparing the vessel for scheduled inspections and surveys • Responsible for keeping the Captain advised of changes in the material condition of the vessel • Responsible to the Captain for the safe navigation of the vessel while serving as the Officer of the Deck • Other duties will include, emergency response handling, HSE & securityAssumes command of the vessel if the Captain is incapacitated The Applicant Experience:- • Must be licensed by U.S coast Guard for steam and motor ship according to waters navigated and tonnage of ship • Possess a Mates License (USCG exam) • Experience of 200 ton for a class 200 vessel • Hold a crane card and water survival certificateSpecific Job Requirement • Must be physically fit able to work and live offshore with limited medical care • Must be able to climb ship stairs and ladders, pick up objects, reach overhead • Must be able to ride in a personnel sling/basket between vessels, structures etc.. • Must be able to ride in a helicopter • Must be able to assist in the overall maintenance of the boatThe Package • An attractive day rate plus rotator premium is offered together with the opportunity to work within a progressive organisation. Captain of Liftboat (1600 ton - Class 200 vessel) Our client, an internationally renowned drilling contractor is now seeking a qualified and experienced Captain for their Liftboat division. West African experience is preferred. The Role • Responsible for the safe and efficient running of the vessel he/she has been appointed to command. • Sets a high standard of personal and professional conduct and to set an example to the crew under his/her command. • Gives attention to the safety of the ship and crew, and will ensure that safe working practices are employed. • Responsible for the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant operation of assigned area. • Commander of the vessel to transport passengers, freight, equipment, and other cargo across oceans, bays, lakes, and in coastal waters; set course of ships using navigational aids, such as charts, area plotting sheets, compass, and sextant, and orders crew worker at helm to steer ship. • Determines geographical position of the ship, using loran or azimuths of celestial bodies; inspects ship to ensure that crew and passengers observe regulations pertaining to safety and efficient operation of ship and maintains ship log. The Applicant Experience:- • Must be licensed by U.S coast Guard for steam and motor ship according to waters navigated and tonnage of ship • Possess a Master’s License (USCG exam) • Experience of 1600 ton for a class 200 vessel • Must be able to demonstrate skills and aptitude of vessel handling and management • Able to set courses, geographical position, calculate land fall and avoid hazards to shipping utililising aids such as light, lighthouses, buoys, charts, plotting sheets, GPS, etc. • Able to navigate bays, sounds, lakes and coastal waters • Fully familiar with all required marine functions i.e., laws, regulations and directives affecting the operation of the vessel • Able to identify and prioritise maintenance and repair programs • Identify and respond to potentially hazardous conditions when maneuvering • Procedures to pump fluids and cargo handling • Stability maintenance of cargo • Anchor handling • Emergency response • HSE Specific Job Requirement • Must be physically fit able to work and live offshore with limited medical care • Must be able to climb ship stairs and ladders, pick up objects, reach overhead • Must be able to ride in a personnel sling/basket between vessels, structures etc.. • Must be able to ride in a helicopter • Must be able to use hand tools and assist mechanics with repairs of crane, gears and pumpsThe Package • An attractive day rate plus rotator premium is offered together with the opportunity to work within a progressive organization. Alkali, was said to have vowed to disqualify anyone who did not live up to expectation in the area of conduct and defence of their results during the recruitment. Alkali confirmed that the second class upper division English Language graduate was unable to express himself. He said he would not recruit such a person who could not defend his result into the Force. The CP who was not happy with the way and manner those who did not merit their grades were honoured by the tertiary institutions they attended, vowed to personally screen entrants into the Force. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Samuel Jinadu, confirmed that some suspects had been arrested for falsification of results. He, however, did not give the figure, saying that it was still being compiled.
