Nigeria: Programme Assistant

CONTEXT
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Nigeria, and under the direct supervision of the Immigration and Border Management (IBM) Project Officer, the successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of the IOM implemented/EU funded project, “Promoting Better Management of Migration in Nigeria”.

CORE FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
? Provide effective liaison with the Nigeria Immigration Service as the key partner in this component of the project ? Collect and provide necessary information and assists in planning, preparing, organising and implementing all aspects of the project activities; ? Assist in timely implementation and reporting on project activities according to IOM and donor formats as required; ? Assist with in-house coordination among the different sections of the project; ? Reasearch, compile and present information on developments on new trends and policies in the field of migration in the country (including legal information) for successful implementation of the project activities; ? Assist in proper documentation of project documents and filing; ? Assist in tracking of project expenditures, liaison with Admin and Finance Unit for a secondary opinion, preparation of monthly funding requests for the project activities; ? Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of project activities; ? Support liaison with relevant governmental, non-governmental entities (NGOs) , international organizations as well as other relevant stakeholders where necessary for the effective implementation of the activities of project and represent IOM at coordination meetings with governments, NGOs and other stakeholders where required; ? Support Visibility and Communication activities related to the project; ? Assist in the planning, preparation and implementation of seminars, conferences, workshops, meetings, presentations and missions related to the project, undertake duty travel when necessary; ? Support the development of new projects based on identified needs during project implementation; ? Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
