Job Title: LE I Political Officer
Job Summary To provide high quality political information and analysis to Chancery on the range of political activities taking place in Nigeria.Specific responsibilities include: Build and maintain a wide range of political contacts – in the government, national assembly; ministries and at state level; Facilitate access for UK based political officers to the key decision makers; analyse and advise on politics in order to enhance decision making. This position will line manage the LEII Public Diplomacy/Visits officer – engaging on these areas as required.Qualities Needed
This is an exciting new position. We are looking for a high quality candidate with excellent political knowledge and analytical skill. The successful applicant will be a strong communicator, with an ability to build contacts and use them effectively to deliver results. They should be able to work quickly and accurately, often under pressure, and take positive and proactive approach to new challenges. Key qualities will be political knowledge, drive, resilience, flexibility and an ability to deliver effective results independently. The job will involve regular contact with a wide range of stakeholders, including Senior Nigerian and British Government officials. Some travel within Nigeria will be involved. Previous experience of working within a political environment would be a distinct advantage. Experience of working in an office environment and computer literacy is essential.About The Job This is a full time position with working hours 8am – 4pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am – 1pm Friday. Out of hours work will be required at certain times. The job will be graded LE I with a monthly starting salary of N469,436 including allowances. Successful candidates who are not liable to pay Nigerian tax will be subject to a 10 % notional tax deduction on the basic salary.Application Deadline
