Global Communities, formerly CHF International, is an international non-profit organization that works closely with communities worldwide to bring about sustainable changes that improve the lives and livelihoods of the vulnerable.
Global Communities is seeking a Chief of Party (COP) for the anticipated USAID-funded Support to Vulnerable Households Project (SVHP) in Nigeria. This program will focus strengthening the participation of an estimated 42,000 very poor Nigerian households in rural economic growth and to improve their livelihoods, nutrition and health. This projects goal is to break the vicious cycle of poverty and under-nutrition for these households. The targeted interventions under this project integrate the very poor into the agricultural rural economy by increasing their productivity; by building their income and assets; and by improving their nutritional status, especially with regard to women and children. The project will also have an explicit focus on strengthening the role of women in agricultural production, income diversification, and nutritional behavior, given the central role of women in rural communities and agricultural production.
The Chief of Party (COP) will provide overall management and general technical direction for the entire program. The COP will serve as a representative to the program, liaising with the donor as well as government entities in Nigeria and other partners. This position will be responsible for the program achieving target results, and will identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner and suggest appropriate program adjustments.
Qualifications: •Advanced Degree in agricultural economics, agronomy, business administration, or a related field.
•15+ year’s prior experience in a field capacity, designing, implementing, and managing large-scale ($30M+) development projects for international donors; •Demonstrated success working with private sector, agribusinesses, and government stakeholders to achieve improvements in incomes, productivity, or job creation; •In-depth knowledge of USAID programmatic, compliance and reporting requirements. •Excellent financial management and contractual skills; •Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage high-level relationships and motivate staff; •Experience working in Nigeria or in the region is highly desirable; •Superior written and verbal communication skills in English.
