Role Activities:
Our client is looking for a Geophysicist, for the Nigerian Offices, to carry out and or manage the specialist provision of inversion and or attribute analysis, Seismic acquisition, seismic processing or reprocessing, structural and seismic stratigraphy analyses, seismic interpretation, depth conversion and generation of maps used in exploration appraisal and development projects. To prepare alongside other subsurface team members, lead and prospect candidates, well proposals, final well reports, risking and volumetric assessments and reserves reporting. This is an Office based role with possible travel between NPDC’s other Nigeria operations. International travel would be required as per business needs.
Primary duties:
Assist in the seismic interpretation of 2D or 3D seismic data.Provide well-to-seismic tie and calibrate well data to seismic.Participate in the planning and execution of seismic acquisition, seismic processing/reprocessing projects.Assist in the construction and maintenance of the seismic data base.Participate in well operations, particularly with respect to activities related to seismic.Integrate all data available (geology, topography, well data, seismic) in order to arrive at a sound understanding of regional and local subsurface conditions.Participate in the elaboration of technical documents and presentations.Implement in the daily work the use of modern seismic interpretation techniques and best practices.Integrate and align the work with other disciplines such as Geology and Reservoir Engineering.Effectively communicate technical results of evaluations and studies to functional management; written and verbal.Provide advice and support on geophysical matters to the IT data base management groupKeep informed about geophysical interpretation and processing developments; promote the introduction of new technologies where relevant and justifiable.Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing own work flow and those of specialist under his/her control and direction.Key work outputs must be reviewed by the subsurface managerSelection and Approval for acquisition of third-party services in country must be made in compliance with project procurement procedures and appropriate laws as set out in the Strategic Alliance agreement and other project documentation and proceduresPotentially responsible for junior national geologists in the teamWorking with: Drilling team; gas monetization project team; Operations Team; Technical Directorate in London; Other in-country and NPDC colleagues; Affiliate services and third parties.Technical Competencies:
Extensive experience and understanding of West African basins and plays.Extensive exploration history and significant success in regional/play type.Strong understanding of structural and stratigraphic influences on geology, seismic processing and interpretation.Current Knowledge of processing techniques for improved resolution, facies and fluid identification.Strong analytical skills and ability to see the big picture.Solid business understanding and commercial awareness.Ability to be hands-on and perform high quality work within tight deadlines.Ability to develop, and mentor personnel, especially local Nigerians.Excellent presentation and communication skills.Good skills in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)Good standard of spoken and written English.Must be willing to travel in country within Nigeria and internationally.Behavioural Competencies

Master’s or Doctorate degree in Geophysics or equivalent.
