Major Accountabilities
Key focal point for client and responsible for project execution.
Serves as a primary contact with client representatives, subcontractors, and government
representatives for delivery of the project. Maintains strong client and community
relations.
Manages the budget and performance of efforts for contractual compliance.
Ensures compliance with approved procedures and regulations, while managing the
work such that the project is completed according to approved procedures.
Works with functional managers and provides management direction regarding
project delivery and priorities in order to deliver the project on time.
Sets priorities for the project team for various work areas and monitors progress
and recommends corrective action as necessary.
Manages the team and assignment of manpower, materials, and equipment to
maximize efficiency, maintain schedules, and to meet budget goals. Keeps alert to
possible problem areas and takes preventive action to ensure that critical
milestones are met for each phase of the project.
Works with the client, the contractor, other managers, project engineers, and
discipline leads to coordinate budgets, schedules, and plans for the various
elements of the project.
Works with the key stakeholders to monitor action plans to rectify potential cost
overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work.
Advises the client and other team members of any such changes.
May participate in evaluating technical and financial bids with respective tendering
committees.
Participates in contract negotiation, bidder recommendations, approves selection of
bidders within delegated approved authority, and ensuring proper and clear division
of responsibility between stakeholders where there is integrated work processes.
Manages the weekly meeting to review project status and formulate action items.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Competencies Required
Demonstrate skills to lead and mentor subordinates to successful completion of project and to demonstrate leadership to effectively manage the project activities required to deliver.
Knowledge, Experience, Skills Required
Thorough understanding of the project management requirements with preference for PMI certification or other Project Management Certifications.
Demonstrable commitment to HSE Management in a project environment.
Excellent communication and people skills with high level of customer focus.
Previous experience as a senior-level Project Director with responsibility for numerous projects and consultants simultaneously.
12 plus years of broad Project Management experience in engineering and design for large, multi-million dollar projects, preferable in the Oil & Gas industry.
Industry Specific Experience
Project, Program experience with application of Project Management processes for $1 billion plus projects with at least two projects completed through the first 4 lifecycle phases.
Education, Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in relevant Engineering discipline COREN or NSE or both preferable.
HSE Capability
Commitment to safe working practices and ability to promote safety consciousness within the department commensurate with Corporate guidelines and requirements.
